Mark Dixon is a dual-qualified Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Chartered Arbitrator with over 35 years of experience in the construction and engineering industries.
He was a former Senior Vice President at Hill International, Partner at EC Harris (now Arcadis) and Group Director at Stapleton International. Prior to holding these senior positions within the industry, he was a contract administrator at Bechtel and before that a quantity surveyor in private practice.
Mark was first appointed as an adjudicator in 2002 and since then has acted as third-party neutral on hundreds of cases, whether as adjudicator or arbitrator. Construction cases have mainly involved building and civil engineering projects, with disputes concerning matters such as final accounts, interim payments, valuation of variations and compensation events, delay and disruption, direct loss and expense, damages, extensions of time, defective works, termination and contract construction, with amounts in issue up to £10 million.
In addition to his practice as a third party neutral, Mark is also an experienced and respected quantum expert witness, specialising in high-value disputes on international energy, marine, industrial and infrastructure projects. He has been instructed on disputes up to US$1.2 billion in value, relating to contracts up to US$2.5 billion within wider projects up to US$17 billion. He has given oral testimony in the English Courts, including the Technology and Construction Court, and in international arbitration proceedings.
He has worked on projects or for clients in over twenty-five countries spanning six continents.
